Eiffel Tower
Conceived and constructed in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel, the Eiffel Tower was to be the temporary masterpiece of the World Fair, which marked the centenary of the French Revolution.  It was not dismantled as foreseen, however, and for over 40 years was the highest building in the World at a height of 301.80 m plus a 24m Antenna on the top.  

Champs de Mars
This is a large green Public open space on the ancient plain of Grenelle, situated between the northerly facade of the Military academy and the Seine.

Musée d'Orsay
National art museum, converted from the former Gare d’Orsay Railway station (originally built in 1898) under the direction of President Mitterrand opened in 1986. 

Opéra - Galeries Lafayette
One of the vastest theatres of the world, with its classic architecture of the Second Empire, it was built in 1860 by Charles Garnier.

Champs-Elysées Etoile
The avenue of the Champs-Elysées is one of the most famous avenues in the world. The avenue runs for 2 kilometres (1.25 miles) through the 8th arrondissement in northwestern Paris, from the Place de la Concorde in the east, to the the Arc de Triomphe.

Grand Palais
Together with Petit Palais, the Grand Palais was built for the World's Fair, held in Paris in 1900, as was the Eiffel Tower.  All three were temporary structures but once erected there was little willingness to raze them.
